Staying active is one of the best ways to support healthy ageing. Regular physical activity can help older people maintain strength, balance, flexibility and independence, making everyday activities such as walking, shopping and gardening easier.
Activity also supports heart and lung health, helps maintain healthy bones and muscles, and can reduce the risk of falls. Importantly, exercise is not just about physical health. Being active can improve mood, reduce stress and anxiety, support better sleep and provide opportunities to stay socially connected. Research shows that 30 minutes of moderate exercise on most days can improve physical and mental health.
Strength for Life offers a range of programs that help people 50+ to stay strong, healthy and active as they age. People can choose from strength classes, gentle chair-based programs, balance training and aqua fitness.
