Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a highly contagious, common virus causing infections of the respiratory tract, including the lungs and airways. Common signs include fever, runny nose, cough, sneezing, wheezing, and reduced appetite. It can lead to severe illness, such as bronchiolitis or pneumonia, in infants, young children, and older adults.

RSV spreads easily through droplets when an infected person coughs or sneezes, or through direct contact with contaminated surfaces.

The Australian Government has announced that as from May 15th, Australians aged 75yr and over can receive a free RSV vaccination. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are eligible from the aged of 60.

Stirling Central Health Clinic will be establishing RSV Vaccination Clinics for people aged over 75 years.

Once clinics open, you will be able to book online by clicking here or phone 8370 9777 to speak to a receptionist for an appointment.
