For the month of May, the Lung Foundation of Australia is urging Australians to be aware of any symptoms which may indicate a change in lung function.

Every day, you take around 22,000 breaths—so keeping your lungs healthy matters. Simple habits can make a real difference. Stay active, sit and stand tall, and keep well hydrated to support healthy breathing. You can go further by avoiding smoking, paying attention to air quality, and protecting your lungs in the workplace. Small steps like these can help you maintain strong, healthy lungs for the long term.

If you experience breathlessness, a persistent cough which lasts longer than 3 weeks, unexpected weight loss, wheezing, coughing up mucous or blood and fatigue, it is worth making an appointment with your GP.
