COVID-19 Boosters and Flu Vaccine

The Australian Medical Association (AMA) has reinforced messaging from overseas estimations suggesting that about “about 1 or 2 per cent of people” will catch both flu and COVID-19 at the same time.

The AMA stated that ‘It’s an extra reason to get the flu shot which is a really key goal for us this year’.

Clinicians are particularly concerned about the potential impact on young children with low immunity having never been exposed to the flu, which has been minimal during the coronavirus pandemic as a result of social distancing, isolation and lack of travel.
