Th South Australian Government announced at the end of 2025, that it is funding a Measles Vaccination Program for adults born during or after 1966 and up until 1989 who have not received two doses of the vaccine.
This is because measles is a highly contagious viral disease that can cause serious complications such as encephalitis.
Stirling Central Health Clinic continues to provide measles vaccination clinics for patients born between 1966 – 1989.
The vaccine is not recommended for people who:
- are immunocompromised because of a medical condition or immunosuppressive therapy
- had a severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis) to a previous dose or an ingredient in the vaccine
- are pregnant (pregnancy should also be avoided for 28 days after vaccination)
- had a live vaccine (chickenpox, BCG, or yellow fever) in the past 4weeks
If you fit the criteria as detailed above and have not had two vaccinations, please book in to the vaccination clinic by clicking here or call 8370 9777.
